GRACE

Mercy is the compassion of God that moved Him to provide a Savior for the unsaved.

But since God is holy and righteous, and sin is a complete offense to Him, His love or His mercy cannot operate in grace until there is provided a sufficient satisfaction for sin. This satisfaction makes possible the exercise of God’s grace.

  1. The unsaved cannot rest in God’s grace
    1. His wrath is against us  Romans 5.9
    2. We are considered enemies with God  Romans 5.10
    3. God has provided a Savior for the unsaved
      1. A sufficient sacrifice for our sin is provided in Christ.
      2. Faith must be exercised to be forgiven.
      3. Peace with God is made.
      4. We can now stand in God’s grace  5.2
      5. Grace gives us hope in what we are faced with in present or future time.  5.2b-3
  1. Living in grace is accomplished through repeated prayer. II Cor 12.8;  Matthew 7.7-8
    1. Prayer doesn’t mean we get our way.
      1. Shouldn’t we as believers get what we pray for?
      2. Paul sought God’s help in removing his thorn in the flesh.
    2. Christ taught an important principle concerning prayer
      1. We are to continually seek God in prayer
      2. Ask, seek, and knock
      3. God gives good gifts to His children
  1. Living in grace will overcome any difficulty!  II Cor 12.9
    1. There will still be difficulties
      1. Paul still had to deal with his issue.
      2. Job dealt with his situation
    2. His grace
      1. Is sufficient
      2. Is abiding
    3. Our response?
