I. Memorials of the Past 4.9
A. Acknowledging the past
1. We learn our heritage by observing the past
2. We gain respect for sacrifices of the past
3. We learn that the past hasn’t always been easy
B. Recognizing God’s faithfulness
1. God’s promise was first heard in Genesis 3.15
2. God’s plan was established in Genesis 12.2-3
3. In the promise, they could see God’s protection and providence.

II. Memorials of the Present 4.8
A. Understanding our place
1. Israel was experiencing their place within God’s plan.
2. They were responsible for walking forward in obedience to God.
B. Enjoying God’s blessings
1. Without their obedience in walking forward, they would have never experienced God’s faithfulness.
2. We will not see God do what He desires to do if we do not walk forward in obedience.

III. Memorials of the Future
A. Being faithful to our place within the journey
1. The success of the next generation depends upon our faithfulness to God today.
2. Our children will only be able to start where our place within the journey ends.
B. Recognizing God’s promises
1. God’s promise was given so that mankind could have hope through redemption.
2. We must be faithful in providing a church that will be enabled to provide:
a. Hope
b. Redemption
c. An environment for God’s people to experience genuine growth as a disciple.
